Brazil Cerrado Decaf - Swiss Water
Brazil Cerrado Decaf - Swiss Water
Medium Roast
The Cerrado Region is a relatively new region for coffee production. Located in the northwest of Minas Gerais state, Cerrado is a large plateau where the predominant topography is flat to slightly wavy. The altitude varies from 900 to 1250 meters above sea level. Cerrado is also one of the most biodiverse and complex regions on earth. The area is home to roughly 5% of all species on earth. The combination of well-defined seasons, abundant sunlight throughout the year, advanced farming techniques and entrepreneurial spirit forged the pillars that sustain Cerrado as we know it today.
Tasting Notes
Richly nut-toned, the nose leads with baking chocolate, almond butter, nutmeg and carnation. On the palate, crisp fruit and nut tones. Easy-going, gentle acidity, viscous, velvety mouthfeel. The finish is quiet, sweet and nutty.
The Swiss Water® Process, 100% chemical free decaffeination process, uses pure green coffee extract and proprietary carbon technology to remove caffeine from green coffee beans. The process removes 99.9% of caffeine during the SWP decaffeination, all done with Pure Water! Using this method of caffeine extraction allows the beans to maintain the original taste components. When quality coffees are selected and processed in this manner it is a “Winning Formula”! We continue to be impressed by the quality of this SWP Decafs.
BRAZIL CERRADO DECAF 17/18 SSFC, SWISS WATER PROCESS
17/18 refers to the screen size. These beans are one screen size larger than 14/16, denoting a larger bean. Larger bean size is generally linked to higher quality.
SSFC (Strictly Soft Fine Cup) beans grown at relatively low altitudes (under 1200 meters) mature quickly and produce a lighter, less dense bean, it also means the beans are free of hard rioy taints. Fine Cup means it is a specialty grade coffee.
